My Nail Care/Polish Routine

Hello everybody,

I hope you are well :)

I thought I would share with you my routine when doing my nails.

Whenever I have the time to properly do my full nail care routine I really enjoy it. As I work full time I don't always have the time to do it completely every time but I do think that it is important to do it whenever I can to keep my nails in the best condition possible.

I worked in a pub for nearly four years and I think that constantly washing my hands ( the thoughts of having Guinness, beer and sambuca on my hands had me running to the sink every time I was behind the bar ) made my nails very weak and they were prone to breaking, splitting and very brittle... NOT fun!

They are in much better condition now that I am no longer working there and I think that this routine helped so much.

The first step that I believe is soooo important is having clean nails! Just like your skin and hair, having  clean nails as a base makes such a difference.

Once my nails are clean I use a nail clippers to cut my nails and a nail file to shape them. I picked up this cute owl pattern file in a pack of three for €1.50 from Penneys!

I then take my Sally Hansen cuticle oil and place a small drop at the cuticle and massage it into the cuticle and my nail. As they have been softened by the oil I then use wooden cuticle pusher to push them back, and wait for the oil to dry in.

Although my nails are stronger these days they still don't grow very long before they start to break or peel. I apply one coat of OPI's nail envy which really helps to strengthens the nail. Once that has dried I apply one coat of Revlon Colorstay base coat. This is the Best base coat I have ever used!!! It makes my nail polish last chip free for soooo much longer then any other base coat I have used before.

Today I have decided to use Barry M Nail Paint in colour 296 coral. This is a perfect summer colour and one that I have been reaching for a lot the last few months.

So that's my nail care routine. On the days were I don't have the time to time to do it all I will start with using the oil and go straight into using the Revlon base coat and my colour of choice once my nails have been filed into shape. I hope that you found it helpful or it gave you some ideas :)

Have you ever used any of the products?

Or what products do you use that you can recommend to me? I'm always open to trying out new products.

Until next time.

Xoxo

May sound strange but I use olive oil on a cotton pads to massage my nails, helps them grow and it's v. Cheap! A little goes a long way.

    1. Me too. They have so many lovely colours, effects and finishes at the moment, they are cheap enough yet I find that they last longer chip free on my nails then higher price point polishes such as OPI and Essie. And Boots usually have some sort of offer on them that means you can get them even cheaper!!! How can I resist ;)

  4. Your nails look so good, I'm so jealous! My nails are a constant battle, especially after getting my acrylics off but they're slowly but surely getting there.
I must pick up OPI Nail Envy next time I'm in Sally's, I've heard so much about it! I swear by the Lush Lemony Flutter cuticle butter for my hands and nails :)

    1. Thank you ☺️ I've had a battle with my own but they are getting there. Never had acrylics though I always feel like Edward scissor hands whenever I used to wear fake nails found to so hard to do simple things like unbuttoning jeans and closing my bra clasp haha.

Never used the cuticle butter but I will have to check it out sometime 😄
